The Unique Pianist with New Material Premiering at the Festival
Maya Dunietz is a brilliant pianist and award-winning composer, a creator of avant-garde sound representations, and a colorful character.
She never ceases to arouse curiosity. Dunietz comes to the festival following the success of her jazz trio album, which revealed another surprising side of her never-ending work.
Dunietz, who is known to many for participating in the rock bands, “Habiluim" and “Boom Pam” played at the prestigious Pompiduo Center in Paris and at the Makodshet Festival in Jerusalem. In May 2021, the release of her album “Free the Dolphin,” which included her her original compositions was received with great excitement and curiosity by fans and critics alike. Not surprisingly, the album offers a unique sound with allusions to folk lullabies, African beats and rhythms, blues, and lots of free and creative jazz.
Following the success of the album, the members of the trio returned to the recording studio to record the new material, which will be played for the first time at the premiere, alongside compositions from her first album.
